About the Mizan website and app

Mizan is a complete Islamic suite on the web and smartphones (Android on Google Play, iPhone coming soon), designed to accompany Muslims in their daily worship and answer their religious and practical questions: reading the Holy Quran in the Uthmani script, reflecting on its tafsir and listening to its recitation; keeping up the morning, evening and prayer adhkar with their authentic chains of narration; and knowing how much zakat is due on my wealth this year, how an estate is divided among the heirs according to the fara'id, when prayer time begins in my city, and where the Qibla is from where I am right now.

The zakat calculator relies on the gold and silver nisab and accepts the five types of wealth: cash, gold, silver, shares and trade goods, deducting debts that are due and presenting the religious evidence. The inheritance calculator applies the rules of the science of fara'id, including fixed shares (furud), residuary inheritance (ta'sib), exclusion (hajb), 'awl and radd, with an explanation of the inheritance verses and the steps of the division, and it shows the base of the case and each heir's share as a fraction, a percentage and an amount.

The prayer times tool calculates the times using precise astronomical equations and lets you choose the calculation method adopted in your country, while the Qibla direction tool provides an interactive compass on your phone. The date converter relies on the Umm al-Qura calendar officially adopted in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Results in all tools are for guidance, to help with understanding and estimation; for specific or complex cases, refer to qualified scholars and the competent official authorities.
